Roadrunner's Winter Wings
Outside the borders of New Mexico the name roadrunner would bring to mind the Looney Tunes cartoon character and his pursuer the coyote. Most have not seen the actual bird in person.
We have a resident roadrunner that hangs out in our yard a good portion of the time. Today I was fortunate to catch him sitting on our fence being photogenic, so I picked up my camera and took a few shots. For reference, he's about the the size of a chicken when he's puffed up, and the size of a crow when he's calm.
I was getting a little too close to him at this point. He got nervous and puffed out his chest.
