Baby Trees

Liam created this lovely piece of art this morning; when he got to the green part, he told me he was drawing a "baby tree". Practically the Bob Ross of the marker world, don't you think? But his talk about tree youth reminded me to take some photos of our newest additions to the yard (replacing some of the Russian Olives with a couple of species better suited to our climate and soil). Maybe someday we'll look at our big, beautiful shade trees and remember when they were just sticks... Here's the Arizona Sycamore - just a wee thing now, but destined for greatness on the scale of the elm behind it.

And the new Texas Red Oak, waking up for spring.
And here's Liam pretending to trim a tree with his "saw" (stick); this is a popular hobby after watching various neighborhood trees undergo pruning/removal in recent months.
Finally, the flower survivors. I'm happy to report that these gals made it through the winter and are still going strong into spring.
Happy belated Earth Day,
Amelia

Your flowers are beautiful - I'm jealous!! Liam's drawing is fantastic with a lovely use of color and symmetry. :) I think you may have a budding artist on your hands.
