When Pigs Fly

Pigs, and elephants, and frogs, and even chiles... it's Balloon Fiesta time again! We were all bundled up for the special shapes' ascension before sunrise Friday morning.

Just as dawn broke, the balloons began to fill...
...and take to the sky!
They keep launching for about an hour, so there's a good chance to check a lot of the balloons out up close on the ground.
Ah, sun! The real thing, too; the morning started warming up when the sun finally got up and over the mountain. Liam, who is a true native New Mexican and complaining wholeheartedly about the cold (it was about 45 degrees when we left the house), was most glad :0)
And I'll give you one guess what his favorite balloon was.
After the shapes had drifted away, we spread out the picnic blanket for some more breakfast (the requisite burrito with green chile was already purchased and consumed moments after entering the park).
And then we stuck around to watch the key grab competition.
The regular balloons just kept on coming.
Eventually luring Liam away from his eating endeavors.
And even drawing the attention of Greta's baby-vision. ("What are those colorful, floating blobs? I would try to grab one if only I could move my arms...")
A beautiful morning for a beautiful sight - Shawn and I are still as thrilled by Balloon Fiesta as we were our very first year down here!

Yeah, I'm glad you had such a wonderful time and the kids did great. Also happy for Liam that he got to see his train balloon. Everything looked amazing and very beautiful, hopefully we will be able to join you one year.

I had never seen the different balloons that you had there. What a beautiful sight. The sky was full of color. Glad you guys had so much fun. Liam is at the age now that he will really take it all in.
