The Ring of Fire
Its been a long time since I've seen an eclipse like this. I (Shawn here) actually wasn't much older than Liam. As luck would have it, Albuquerque found itself smack in the middle of the path yesterday and we made an evening of the event.
Since looking straight into the sun is not advisable (do what I say, don't do what I do) we did the low cost pin hole setup. Liam's early discription of the partial eclipse was that "it looks like a cat head."
Liam is turning into our little budding photographer and took a couple of shots of the festivities. The car next to use belting out some Johnny Cash "Ring of Fire" was a nice touch to the event.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the right filters for the SLR camera. But after throwing on 3 different filters I did have, stepping down the f-stops, shooting max shutter speed, using the lowest ISO setting, and finally shooting through the tinted glass of the car I was able to get some reasonable images. Definetly need another polarized filter for the next eclipse.

Jealous! We did not even know it was taking place until we saw it on the news late that evening. What a great and memorable experience for the kids.
We didn't get to see it. Thanks for all the pics of the eclipse. Pretty interesting event.
