Mishka

Where to even begin with this post?? We've been dog-less since we lost Nadia three years ago (and Simba less than six months before that). At the time, Greta was a newborn, Liam was a small toddler, and the last thing we needed or wanted was another living creature that needed our attention!

But... The kids have gotten bigger and more self-sufficient and Shawn and I started thinking maybe it was time for another dog. We had a wonderful experience with our previous huskies and love several things about the breed (namely that they're relatively clean, aren't big barkers, and tend to be friends with everyone), so started surfing the local breed rescue's website of available dogs sometime last summer. Right after Christmas, we put in an application for a calm 2 or 3-year old female. Turns out that dog had already been adopted, and we ended up falling for this sweet girl a short time later:

Meet Mishka - a 1-year old female Siberian Husky that likes to bark at strangers, gnaw on any of Greta's loveys within reach, and is often anything but calm!! Lucky for us, she is also very affectionate, eager to please, and a big fan of car rides :0) Huskies are typically puppies until they're at least two, and Mishka is no exception... She has boundless energy during the day (but is super calm at night), loves to play, and is still working on good puppy manners (like not jumping on us or using limbs as chew toys!). House training has been somewhat of a challenge and the kids have been terrified of Mishka's overly-rough play more than once, but she's making good progress all-around and we're getting back in the groove of owning a young dog. Welcome to the family, Mishka - hope we have many happy years together!

She's beautiful and we can't wait to meet her in person.

I take it, Greta is doing much better, yeah :)
