El Patio
One of my favorite features of Mexican and New Mexican-style architecture is the abundance of enclosed outdoor spaces - the courtyards with their thick walls, gates, and tile. It only took eight years, but we finally got our own back/side patio wall and landscaping done. Here's a quick inner-yard tour:
We eat outside most nights between now and October, and we're loving our little desert garden space. The plants are mostly natives of the low water/high sunlight variety, and we can't wait to watch them grow and bloom (most have already doubled in size or more since February). Yay to outdoor living spaces - totally worth the wait!! -Amelia
