Going To San Francisco
We had an amazing time on our spring break trip to San Francisco last week, and I have a whole lot of pictures to prove it...
Upon arrival at our hotel, my fabulous godmother Patty retrieved us and took us straight down to the beach at Crissy Field.
After a nice stroll, we loaded back into the car for a visit to several former forts/military sites to appease Liam's latest love of cannons and cannonballs :0).
The next morning started with flowers for Greta's hair; we were in San Francisco after all!
We started off in the Fisherman's Wharf area, with visits to a submarine, the sea lions at Pier 39, and the aquarium. (Not to worry, a requisite sourdough bread bowl of clam chowder and plenty of other seafood offerings were consumed.)
Later, we headed to the cable car museum and Chinatown for a tasty dinner.
Patty picked us up the next morning for a trip across the bridge into the Marin Headlands. (You will soon notice we have a thing for photos of the Golden Gate Bridge).
After taking in the patients at the Marine Mammal Center, we turned Liam and Greta loose for a few hours at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. They're posing just outside it with "Ms. Patty".
Who could resist a chance to stop for some more gorgeous views of the bridge and bay? I totally understand why people pay a small fortune to live here.
Made it back just in time for some ice cream at Ghirardelli Square.
The next morning we hopped a bus to the serene Muir Woods.
The air was unbelievably fresh and the redwoods suitably impressive.
Shawn and I would have happily spent more of the day hiking, but the kids were itching to get back to the action so we caught a ferry back to the city. We climbed the hills to check out curvy Lombard Street, then hopped on a cable car to ride back down for some final time by the bay.
Thanks for the happy memories, San Francisco! (That's Alcatraz in the background, but we skipped the tour this visit since Greta probably wouldn't get it just yet... Great excuse to return in a few years!)
