A Few More Finishing Touches

Despite all the work getting ready for the baby, we continue to work on upgrades for the house. Most of the rooms have had their major work done. One of the few remaining was one of the guest rooms... now the only guest room since the other is the nursery going forward. Here's the picture of the guest room before we did any work to it. It was mostly a storage room for us. If you squint you can just make out the fashionable mini-blinds for the closet. A little work (read many hours of painting, moving furniture, finding a matching rug, installing shelves, installation of curtains, having doors made, and taking 2 days off to stain and finish them so that the fumes don't endanger my loving wife and unborn child), and we ended up with quite the transformation. Although the majority of the house is heated by electrical baseboards, we have one gas wall furnace (the white thing on the wall). My parents commented that it put out plenty of heat to keep the room warm. Since we no longer had the spare bedroom for extra storage we had a bunch of left over art from the old house. We thought it was a good addition to the loft. The office is finally finished as well. We took the time to repaint the window frames and put up new shades. Take a look at the old posts of the office to reminisce on the kick ass baby blue mini-blinds that previously covered the windows. Shawn
